SOUTHBRIDGE: Winifred Mae St. George died suddenly at home on May 22, 2019.
She was born on March 16, 1923 in Gouveneur, NY. She was the daughter of Clarence and Ina Reid. Her father was a farmer and she spent her younger years growing up on a farm. During the Great Depression the family moved to Waterbury, CT. She graduated from Wilby High School in 1941 in the top 10 of the class then went to work for a mill supply company as a secretary.
After her marriage she moved to Southbridge and worked at the American Optical Company before take a job as a lawyer’s secretary. Staying at home for 15 years to raise a family she returned to work as the assistant office supervisor for the local John Hancock Insurance agency. After retirement she worked part time for H & R Block.
Predeceased by 3 brothers Curtis, Clarence, and Donald.
Survived by two sons Alan St.George and Russell St.George, a daughter-in-law Kathleen, a grandson Andrew and his wife Gloria, a great grandchild Elway, and a brother Robert and his wife Nancy.
She enjoyed crafts of all types, gardening, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. She remained very active up till the time of death.
Her funeral will be held at 10:AM Wednesday, May 29, in the Holland Church, 11 Sturbridge Road, Holland, MA. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
