STURBRIDGE: Wilfred “Sonny” Lachapelle, 91, formerly of Willow Ave. died, February 20, 2023, in the Overlook after an illness.
His wife Eleanor (Barnes) Lachapelle died September 26, 2013.
He leaves 2 daughters, Dianne Renaud and her husband Eugene of Southbridge and Cindy Rousseau of Woodstock, 3 grandchildren, Rebecca Renaud and her companion Nathan of Southbridge, Jennifer Bueno and her husband Anthony of Norton, Angela Braaten and her husband Matthew of Clinton, 5 great grandchildren, Lucas Bueno, Gabriel Bueno, Ella Braaten, Odin Braaten, Emily Braaten and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Donald Lachapelle, Nelson Lachapelle, and a sister Edye Billman.
He was born in Southbridge, the son of Wilfred and Mary (DiGregorio) Lachapelle and lived in the area all his life. He graduated from Cole Trade High School in Southbridge.
He retired from General Motors in Framingham in 1989 after 30 years of service as a maintenance electrician.
He was a member of the Southbridge Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses for many years.
He enjoyed gardening, genealogy, vacations in Maine and most of all he enjoyed his family.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Overlook for all the care and compassion they gave to Wilfred during his many years of residency.
A Memorial Talk will take place Saturday, April 1, at 2PM, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 52 Old Webster Rd., Oxford.
There are no calling hours.
A private burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
