Wallace MacKenzie

SOUTHBRIDGE: Wallace Mackenzie, age 79, of 1 Therese Ave., passed away at his home on December 5, 2023. His departure leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him dearly.

Wallace Mackenzie is survived by his beloved son, James Mackenzie, who is currently serving in the US Army. He also leaves behind four cherished sisters - Vericonia Mackenzie of Queens, NY, Rita Marie Mackenzie of Astoria, NY, Victoria of NC, and Maureen Ann Ruf of NJ.

Born in Flushing, Queens, NY, Wallace Mackenzie's journey began with an education at Schenectady High School in Schenectady, NY. He further pursued knowledge at Borough of Manhattan Community College, Seminary of the East in New York, and the New York School of the Bible. Wally's life was radically changed by Christ in the late 90's and he lived his life for Him to the very end.

With a sense of duty ingrained in his character, Wallace proudly served in the US Navy, contributing his skills and dedication to the nation he loved.

For two decades, Wallace carried out his role as a US postal carrier in Queens, New York, faithfully delivering mail and building connections within the community. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional responsibilities, as he coached track in NYC for 30 years and started the first Little League Team in Jamaica where he was a missionary for over 4 years.

Upon relocating to Massachusetts and becoming part of Sovereign Grace Church, Wally became a significant member and served as a deacon for a number of years. He indulged in what he loved most by embarking on missionary trips to Jamaica, immersing himself in Bible Study, and exploring the intricate threads of his own genealogy.  Wally spent many Saturdays in front of the Southbridge Post Office on Main St. spreading the good news about Christ and His salvation.

A service to honor Wallace Mackenzie's life will be held on Saturday, December 9, at 11AM, in Faith Baptist Church, located at 515 Dennison Hill Drive, Southbridge. Prior to the service, a calling period for friends and family will be held from 10:30 to 11AM within the church to pay their tributes.

Burial will take place at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA later in the week. The exact day and time will be announced on this platform for all those who wish to join in bidding him farewell.

Funeral arrangements are being directed by Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home at 51 Marcy St., Southbridge - a venue that understands the significance of honoring a life well-lived.
