STURBRIDGE: Verdeon \"Fred\" Pienta, 91, of New Boston Rd. died Tuesday, Jan. 6th in Quaboag on the Common in West Brookfield. His wife Doris A. (Pariseau) Pienta died in 2003. He leaves a brother Joseph J. Pienta of Southbridge, a sister Josephine Bousquet of Dover, N.H. three grandchildren Brian Mahan of Noblesville, IN, Lisa Racine of Sturbridge, Leslie Kryger of Charlton, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and Laurent Boutin of Dennis, and several nephews and nieces.
He was born in Gilbertville the son of Jacob and Mary (Kardas) Pienta and lived in the area most of his life.
He graduated from Cole Trade High School. He was a WWII Navy veteran and served three years in the Philippines and the Pacific theater as a torpedo man and gyro specialist.
Mr. Pienta was employed as a carpenter attaining a 50-year Gold Membership in the Carpenter\'s Union. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
10:00AM, Monday, Jan. 12, in St, Anne\'s Church, Church St. Fiskdale. A calling hour will be held Monday Jan. 12, 8:30AM to 9:30AM in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
