Born in Auburn, Maine she was the daughter of George and Lillian (Day) Nichols.
She is predeceased by her husband Arthur G. Thompson. She is survived by a son George Thompson and his wife Jean of Holland, MA and two daughters: Crystal T. Shepard of Framingham, MA and Emily Cobb of Auburn, ME; nine grandchildren: Leneen Brophy, Amanda Shepard, Xeylef Lantz, Thain Lantz, Tom Williams, Beth Williams, Pam Curboy, Melissa Recor and Nicole McHugh; and eight great-grandchildren: Benajmin, Dominic, Cameron, Samuel, Graydon, Ashley, Gabriel, and Lily.
Thelma was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Order of White Shrine, the Rugged Cross and the Order of Amarath.
Thelma enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, crocheting, and spending time with family. She was an accomplished pianist. She especially loved to spend time with family. Her great sense of humor will be missed.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, April 9 at 11:00 A.M. in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00-11:00 A.M.
A spring burial will take place in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Maine.
