Susan Niejadlik
March 29, 1924 — June 25, 2013
SOUTHBRIDGE: Susan (Tobia) Niejadlik, 89, died peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on June 24, 2013.
She was born in Southbridge, MA on March 29, 1924, the daughter of Angelina and Carmello Tobia. Southbridge was home for 86 years until she moved to Florence MA to live next door to her daughters.
Susie took cherished memories of living in Southbridge with her, from growing up on Moon St. surrounded by a large and loving family, swimming in Carpenters
Pond with the Moon St. gang, setting up her first house on Woodland Ave and finally 48 happy years in the family home on Lebanon St. Attending St. Mary’s Church throughout her Southbridge years was a great source of comfort and community.
She graduated from Mary E. Wells High School where she served as class secretary. After graduating she worked as executive secretary at the American Optical Company. She would return to the AO site to work as a key-punch operator, later taking that skill to Westwood Textiles. Little did she know then, that she would be on the ground floor of computer technology. But computers held no interest for her.
Her passion was her family and home. Together with husband of 41 years, Casmir
“Ky” Niejadlik, they raised three daughters: Nancy, Jane, and Anne. She applied her love of decorating, sewing, gardening, and cooking to create a comfortable home for her family and a welcoming place for all that came through the door.
The love of her life, Ky, died in 1990. Also deceased are: sister, Lucy Wilson, brothers, John Tobia, Salvino Tobia, Thomas Tobia and dear companion of later years, John Vagel
Susie is survived by daughters Nancy Fuller, Jane Niejadlik-Deihl and Anne
Ridabock along with son-in-laws Mark Fuller, Douglas Deihl and Win Ridabock and, closest to her heart, her grandchildren: Jose Molina Jr., Elizabeth Molina and partner Pietro, Sara and Seth Fuller, Emmaline Deihl and great-grandchild
Pietro Antonio Mola. Also, sisters Grace McCarthy, Anne Tobia, and Mary Connor.
And, not to be forgotten because of their daily visits and the smiles they brought to her, her grand-dogs, Rudy and Asha.
Her funeral will be held at 8:45 AM on Tuesday, July 2, with a funeral procession forming at the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge, followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, in St. Mary’s Church of the Blessed John Paul II parishes, Hamilton St, Southbridge. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, July 1 from 4 to 7PM.
