STURBRIDGE/OXFORD: Susan M. (Guertin) Hanson, 57, of Main St. died, Thursday, Dec. 13, in her home after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 29 years John L.Hanson, her parents Theodore and Julia (Brosnahan) Guertin of Oxford; 2 step sons John C. Hanson and his wife Christine of Holland, Bradford R. Hanson of Southbridge; a step daughter Audrey J. Davis and her husband Marquis of Grafton; 2 brothers Ted Guertin and his wife Patti of Oxford; Kenneth A. Guertin and his wife Lydia of Arlington; 2 step grandchildren Charles Davis and Austin Davis and several nephews and nieces.
Susan was born in Worcester, graduated from Marion Central Catholic High School in 1973 and Bridgewater State College in 1977. She earned her degree in Health and Physical Education. She was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society.
Susan worked for the US Postal Service for over 25 years in Human Resources. She continued her education earning her certificate as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.
She volunteered her time working with friends of Bill W. and helped many people over the past 33 years. She also volunteered for the German Shepherd Rescue of New England transporting dogs to foster homes as well as adopting a couple of dogs personally.
Susan loved life and loved to laugh. She loved the outdoors especially time spent boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, traveling to the islands, motorcycling, reading and walking her dogs. Most of all Susan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, Dec. 19, in St. Roch’s Church, 334 Main St. Oxford. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Maple St. Sturbridge.
Calling hours are 4:00 to 8:00PM, Tuesday, Dec. 18th in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
