STURBRIDGE: Steven Francis Alger 62, passed away on February 2, 2021 at UMASS Hospital.
Steven leaves behind his brother Paul Alger of Southbridge; his best girl Lynne of Feeding Hills; his lap warmer Buddy; his aunt Patricia Schellhammer of Fiskdale; and his good friend Robert Renaud of Southbridge.
He is predeceased by his father Frank Alger, and his mother Bernice (Kovaleski) Alger.
Steven graduated from Bay Path Vocational School, Johnson and Wales Culinary School, and Westfield State College where he earned his Master Degree.
He worked at the Publick House for many years and then taught culinary arts at Pathfinder Vocational school for 27 years before retiring in 1998.
Steven enjoyed golfing, barbecues at the lake house, playing cards, watching Jeopardy he never missed an episode, his spectacular fireworks display over the lake every 4
th of July, going to the casino, and attending concerts. He attended multiple Rolling Stone concerts.
He enjoyed people and always had a joke or two to tell. He will be missed by many. A few comments from his past students on Facebook were; whistling chef in the talent show, peace ad cook from heaven, caring person with a great sense of humor which made him an amazing teacher, he always kept us laughing.
