Sophie Therrien

CHARLTON: Sophie (Walbers) Therrien, 100, formally of Southbridge passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30th, in the Overlook Masonic HealthCare Center in Charlton, MA. Her husband of 59 years predeceased her in 2004. She was born in Liege, Belgium, to Jean-Joseph Walter and Marie Celine (Maltart) Walbers. An older sister and 2 older brothers all of Liege, Belgium, predeceased her. Sophie was a World War II war bride arriving in Southbridge in 1946. She became a naturalized citizen in 1956. She was employed by the American Optical for many years before retiring. A private graveside service will be held in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
