Sonja E. Cooper, 79, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband John T. Cooper, Jr. in 2016 and her son Kevin G. Cooper in 1993. She is survived by her son, Jack Cooper and his companion Michelle Ledoux; her grandchildren: Jennifer Lawrence and her husband Phillip and John T. Cooper and his wife Emily; her best friend Louise Walker along with several siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sonja was born in Southbridge the daughter of the late George and Virginia (Hosmer) Wetteland. She met and married the love of her life and moved to Sturbridge to raise her family. Sonja worked as a waitress at Rom's for close to 20 years before going to work as a secretary for her husband's business, Cooper's Air Conditioning, for 25 years until her retirement in 2011. She loved caring for her grandchildren and spending time with them as they grew up, enjoyed puzzled and she and John enjoyed traveling to all-inclusive vacation destinations, including Cancun, Costa Rica and Hawaii four times. Everyone who knew and loved Sonja will miss her dearly.
