Sturbridge: Ruth Whiteoak 82, of Vista Lane, died Friday, June 8, at UMass Memorial Hospital.
She leaves a brother Kenneth Whiteoak of Putnam, a sister Mildred Steenburn of Dewittville , NY, nieces Ellen and her husband Gary Hayes of Thompson, CT., Elizabeth Whiteoak of West Roxbury, Kathy, Nancy, Ann, Ruth all of New York, nephew Scott Whiteoak of Dayville, Ct, Carl Steenburn of New York and many grand nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her longtime companion Jim Bachand of Sturbridge, and her brother Donald Whiteoak of Southbridge.
She was born on May 10m 1925 is Southbridge the daughter of Arthur and Ellen (Hampson) Whiteoak and lived in the area all her life. Ruth graduated from Mary E. Wells High School. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Aux. She enjoyed traveling around the United States and was an avid reader.
Her funeral will be at 10:00AM, Wednesday, June 13, in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hamilton Street, Southbridge. A calling hour is at 9:00AM to 9:45 AM Wednesday June 13, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
