STURBRIDGE – Ruth P. (Auger) Curran, 76, of New Boston Rd., died Sunday, May 17, at Overlook Masonic Nursing Home. Her husband, Charles Curran, died in 1998. She leaves her daughter, Deborah Curran, and her grandchildren, Jennifer LaVallee and Christopher Curran, with whom she lived; two daughters, Joanne Ziemski, of New Britton, CT, and Gayle Metras, of Fiskdale; one son, Michael Curran, of Dracut; two brothers, Lionel Auger Jr., of Texas, and Arnold Auger, of Brooklyn, CT; three sisters, Barbara Fortin, of Balouville, CT, Elaine Ignasiak, of Clearwater, FL, and Dorothy Shippee, of Moosup, CT; four step-brothers, Paul Guertin, Robert Guertin, Michael Guertin, and Gary Guertin; 7 more grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was born on February 25, 1933, in Putnam, CT, the daughter of the late Lionel and Rita (Tatreault) Auger, and lived in the area for most of her life. She was employed by the American Optical Company as an Inspector. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary at the VFW in Putnam, CT. She was a member of St. Anne’s Parish.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, May 22, in ST. Mary’s Church, Hamilton St. Southbridge. A calling hour will be 8:30AM to 9:30AM prior to the funeral Mass in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge.
