Ruben Lopez

SOUTHBRIDGE: Ruben Lopez, 57, of Overland St. died Saturday, Nov,29 at Harrington Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill at home. He leaves a son Ruben Lopez of Southbridge, two daughters Yaraida Lopez of Puerto Rico, Jessica Lopez of Southbridge, his mother Aeropajita Ortiz of Southbridge, seven brothers Jose C. Lopez, William N, Lopez,  Jose L. Lopez, Salorin Lopez, Victor Lopez, Bonifacio Lopez, Manuel Lopez all of Southbridge, two sisters Gladys Lopez of Southbridge, Daisy Rodriguez of Puerto Rico, four grandchildren Yarielis Diaz Lopez, Angel Torres, Gabriela Torres, Roselyn Lopez and many  nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his father, Nicomedes Lopez and two brothers, Geraldo Lopez and Roberto Lopez of Puerto Rico.

He was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico the son of Aeropajita Ortiz and the late Nicomedes Lopez and lived in Southbridge for many years.  He was a machine operator for the American Optical Company for many years. He enjoyed singing, \"Musica Jibara\",Puerto Rican Folk music. He also enjoyed watching baseball and  boxing. He was a very generous person and was knicknamed \"Santa Claus\", among his friends and family.
His funeral will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, Dec. 3rd in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are 6:00PM to 9:00PM Tuesday Dec. 2 in the funeral home.
