SOUTHBRIDGE: Roland Tremblay, 80, of Mechanic St. died Monday, July 3, at St. Vincent's Hospital after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 60 years Lucille (Gendreau) Tremblay, a son Ronald Tremblay of Brookfield, and a daughter Susan Sanelli and her husband Ernesto, of Southbridge; 5 brothers Alfred Tremblay of Pomfret, CT, Richard Tremblay of Southbridge, Leon Tremblay of Southbridge, Paul Tremblay of Sturbridge, David Tremblay of Southbridge; 4 sisters Lorraine Tremblay of Southbridge, Constance Fontaine of Sturbridge, Aline Vosburg of Sturbridge, Diane Tremblay of Southbridge; 7 grandchildren Patricia and her husband Eric, Matthew and his wife Natalie, Aaron and his wife Chelsea, David and his wife Kayla, Angiolina, Noah, and Antonio; 7 great grandchildren Kenron, Axel, Ryker, Zinnia, Owen, Ayla and Emma.
He was predeceased by two great grandchildren Issac and David, his daughter in law Rebecca Jean (Nadeau) Tremblay, his brothers: Robert, Roger, and Raymond Tremblay and his sister: Jeanne Lacasse.
Roland was born in Southbridge the son of the late Joseph and Mary Rose (Rondeau) Tremblay and lived in the area most of his life. He graduated from Cole Trade High School in 1955.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1981 after 26 years of dedicated service and served in Thailand. After his retirement, he worked at the Brimfield Elementary School.
He was a member of the former Sacred Heart Parish and was Past President of the parish's St. Vincent de Paul, served as a Eucharistic Minister, Altar Server and worked raising money for the Bishop's Fund.
He will be remembered for his kindness, wit and sense of humor.
His funeral will be held Monday, July 10, at 9AM from the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge, where a procession will form for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Mary's Church (a church of the St.John Paul II parishes), Hamilton Street, Southbridge. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in New Notre Dame Cemetary, Woodstock Rd., Southbridge.
Calling hours are Sunday, July 9, from 4 to 7PM in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge.
