SOUTHBRIDGE: Roger Thompson 77, of Eastford Rd., died Thursday, August 11, in his home after an illness.
His wife Barbara (Chaosky) Thompson died Oct. 20,2014. He leaves 2 sons Roger Thompson III of of Southbridge and Stephen Thompson of Southbridge, a brother Clyde Thompson of Brimfield, a sister Janice Giannini of Willington, CT., 2 grandchildren Ivy and Molly, and nephews and nieces.
Born in Southbridge the son of Roger and Elianor (Russ) Thompson he lived in the area all his life.
Roger graduated from Mary E. Wells School and served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He retired from Galileo Fiber optics after 30 years of service and drove for Kesling Transportation.
He was a member of the Gun Owners Action League, Experimental Aircraft Association and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
His hobbies included the outdoors and gold mining.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, Aug. 16, in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Cemetery Chapel, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA. A service will be held at 8PM in the funeral home following calling hours.
Calling hours are 6:00 to 8:00PM Monday, Aug. 15, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge, MA
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
