CHARLTON: Robert “Bobby” Westberg, 85 years old, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14,2022 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center after a recent decline in health. Bobby, a long-time resident of Charlton, MA, was a friend to many in town, a familiar face in his orange cap. He was a regular at his favorite shops and coffee stops, and always took the time to share news or a chuckle.
Born August 9, 1936, in Worcester, Bobby is predeceased by his parents Otto and Lois (Young) (Scribner) Westberg. He leaves two half-brothers, John Westberg of Attleboro, and Albert Westberg of Worcester.
Bobby came to Charlton as a boy, making his home with Lucy Stevens and Melvin Stevens on the family farm, and became an embedded part of the extended family and community. He could be counted on to keep everyone up to date on local news.
Bobby worked at American Optical, Charlton Woolen Mill, and retired from Masonic Home at Overlook. He attended Wayside Advent Christian Church in Charlton, and later Oak Hill Bible Church in Oxford. He enjoyed taking scenic drives and making longer trips to visit extended family. He loved his canine companions over the years and taking them on rides and walks.
Bobby will be missed by his many friends and extended family; especially by Gary and Lorinda Allen of Charlton, and Jon and Kim Stevens of Holland who helped him out. The family thanks the staff at Quaboag for their dedicated care.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 10:00 AM, at West Ridge Cemetery, Main St. Charlton, MA.
