Robert Thompson

CHARLTON: Robert L. Thompson, 60, of Griffin Rd, died Friday Oct. 18, at Massachusetts General Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Candace (Carrington) Thompson; two daughters Leanne Thompson and Dahn King, both of Charlton; sister Dale and brother Tom both of Texas; two grandchildren CoriAnne and Ryan; several nephews, nieces and cousins and was predeceased by his sister Peggy Hernandez of California.
Born in Elkhart, IN, the son of the late Lee and Patsy (Duncan) Ryan.
He was a retired Sergeant First Class, serving 23 years in the US Army, including a tour in Vietnam. He graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with a degree in Fire Science and spent 18 years as a firefighter and EMT for the town of Charlton.
He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, history and fishing with his granddaughter. Extremely proud of his Scottish heritage, he took up genealogy and became an active member of the Clan Donnachaidh.
His funeral will be held at 10:00AM Friday, Oct. 25, in the Belanger-Bullard funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. Burial will follow at West Ridge Cemetery in Charlton.
Calling hours are 5:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the funeral home.
