Robert Glass
February 15, 1932 — May 29, 2011
CHARLTON – Robert I. Glass, 79, formerly of Northampton and Chatham, died Sunday, May 29, at the Overlook Masonic Health Center. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Sandra (Zais) Glass; three sons, Jonathan Glass, of Belmont, Scott Glass, and his wife, Patricia, of Sturbridge, and Jeff Glass, of Avon, CO; a daughter, Dale St. Lawrence, and her husband, Michael, of Thompson, CT, and four grandchildren, Samantha, David, Peter, and Andrew.
He was born in Boston, the son of the late Louis and Doris (Levin) Glass, and grew up in the area. Robert served as a Specialist 3rd Class in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He graduated from Brown University and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with an MBA. He was an entrepreneur and owned and operated various businesses including Cogen Energy Technology L.P. and Hydro Development Group. He was also a professor at UMass.
Robert was a member of the St. Matthews Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Andover.
Bob lived his life with enthusiasm, welcoming challenge and bringing thoughtful and creative solutions to the table. In addition to his business accomplishments, he also enjoyed being behind the wheel of bicycles, airplanes, and cars. He was devoted to his wife, his family and his close friends who will miss his laughter and his wry sense of humor. He was especially fond of playing baseball with his grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held in the Linwood Memorial Park, Randolph, MA.
