WEST WARREN – Rita O. (Ouimet) Culliton, 84, of North St., died Saturday, December 19, in Mary Lane Hospital, of congestive heart failure. Her husband, Pierce R. Culliton, died in 1989. She leaves a daughter, Martha Culliton, and her husband Erich Kranz of Salem, NY; a son, Pierce Culliton, and his wife, Joanna, of Pawleys Island, SC; a sister, Dolores Doherty, of Warren; several grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Constance Aldrich.
She was born in Ware, the daughter of the late Edward and Leah (Legare) Ouimet, and lived in the area her entire life. She graduated from Ware High School and was employed by the town of West Warren as a Librarian. For 27 years, she welcomed children and adults, kept up with the latest books and movies, held story hours and holiday celebrations, dispensed lollipops, and made the library a focal point of the community. She was a member of St. Thomas Women’s Club and St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She enjoyed reading and sewing.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Monday, December 28, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 42 North St, West Warren, MA. A calling hour will be held from 9:00 – 10:00am, prior to Mass, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Spring burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, or to the West Warren Library Trust, 2370 Main St, West Warren, Ma, 01092.
