STURBRIDGE/Zephyrhills FL: Richard "Dick" E. Trahan, 79, formerly of Sturbridge passed away surrounded by his family, July 10, at UMASS Medical Center after being stricken ill earlier during the week
He leaves his wife of 58 years Luise, Judy (Muller) Trahan; a son Richard Trahan and his wife Mary Skowyra of Quechee, VT; 2 daughters;Michele Rowson and her husband Mark of Lafayette, CA; Kimberly Croke and her husband David of Sturbridge; 3 grandchildren Joshua, Bethany and her fianc�©e Jamison Cormier and Montana.
Born in Southbridge, Dick was the son of the late Edmond and Florence (LaBelle) Trahan and lived in the area until retiring to Florida 15 years ago.
Dick graduated from Cole Trade High School, then enlisted in the US Army in 1954, stationed in Germany he met his beautiful bride and married in 1957. After his time in the service was finished, he and his wife traveled from Washington back to Massachusetts camping across the country. He then received his Associates Degree from Clark University and worked for Boniface Tool and Die for 45 years and retired as a manager.
Through the years he enjoyed bowling, golf and billiards; but most of all he loved playing cards and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Known to everyone
as "Opa", he was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
His funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 17, at 4:00PM in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II parishes, 446 Main St. Southbridge.
