SOUTHBRIDGE: Raymond E. Freeland Jr., 92, died, Monday, Oct. 13, in Southbridge Rehab & Healthcare.
His wife Frances M. (Patenaude) Freeland died in May 8, 2009.
He leaves a daughter Debra L. Goulet and her husband Wayne of Southbridge, a son Kevin Freeland of North Grovendale, CT, a step daughter Elaine "Cookie" M. Dimetri and her husband George "Bucky" White of Southbridge, a step son Frank J. McLean and his wife Rachel of Woodstock Valley, CT,
He was born in Southbridge the son of Raymond and Florence (Laobscher) Freeland and lived in the area all his life.
He graduated from Mary E. Wells High School. He was a cook in the Navy WWII.
He worked at the American Optical Co. and then worked and retired from Pratt Whitney Aircraft Co. in 1985 after 27 years of service. He also worked part time in the kitchen at the Publick House.
Ray followed Southbridge High School football, played golf, flower gardening and enjoyed the hunt for treasures at flea markets.
He looked forward to seeing the Red Sox and Patriots play. Ray and his wife Frances traveled extensively throughout the country.
His funeral will be held on Monday, Oct. 20, form the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge followed with a Mass at 10:30AM in St. Mary's Church, of the St. John Paul II parishes. Burial will
follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:00AM to 10:00AM in the funeral home.
