Ralph Plumley

GARDNER: Ralph M. Plumley, 80, of 47 Lake Street, Gardner, died Sunday December 31, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Born in Monson, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Fay K. and Bertha W (Burdick) Plumley. He was a 1944 graduate of Hitchcock Free Academy in Brimfield, entered the Army Air Corps in 1944, serving 2 years during World War II. After his discharge, he entered Clarkson College of Technology in Potsdam, NY and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelorâ??s Degree in Civil Engineering. He was Vice President of Engineering at Atkins and Merrill, Inc. of Marlboro retiring from A&M Engineering Composites in 1991. Ralph and his family moved to Lancaster in 1962. He was Scout Master for Troop 1 in Lancaster from 1964-1969. He was a member of the Day Spring Lodge of Masonâ??s from 1954. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a member of SAMPE (Society for Advancement of Material and Process Engineering), a charter member of the Cousteau Society, and a member of the American Defense Preparedness Association. He was member of the Greendale Peopleâ??s Church, serving as member of the Board of Trustees for 6 years and past president of the 3Fs. He leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, Evelyn A. (Adams), three daughters, Kathryn A. Brown of Westminster, Sharon E. Bradley of Princeton, Susan D. West of Jamesville, NY and one son Bruce J. Plumley of Holland; two brothers, Earle F. of Wales, Donald A. of Guildhall, Vermont, and one sister Eleanor J. Szlachetka of Palmer, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 3, 5-8PM at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Thursday January 4, 11AM in the Funeral Home.
