WOOODSTOCK CT: Phyllis M. Freeman, (80) of Woodstock, Connecticut and West Palm Beach, Florida, died of cancer on 29 June at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, Connecticut surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Southbridge, Mass., daughter of the late Ralph and Edith (Halvorsen) Freeman.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Colbert of Wellesley, Mass., two sons, Lawrence Livernois of Nashua, N.H., and Jay Livernois of Woodstock, Conn. and France, her former husband, Joseph Livernois of Southbridge, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Charles, a son-in-law, Jack Colbert, and two brothers, Lawrence and Milton Freeman.
She graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge, Massachusetts in 1947. She was the Women`s Editor of the Southbridge Evening News, and was subsequently employed by Old Sturbridge Village, where she rose to become the Director of Personnel. Currently she owned and operated the English Neighborhood Bed & Breakfast in North Woodstock.
Phyllis was active in the Cub Scouts and the Girl Scout Committee in Woodstock, and was active in Woodstock politics since moving there from Southbridge in 1955. She was a lifetime member of the Central Baptist Church in Southbridge, where she served as a Deacon for 25 years. She also was a member of the Senior Club of Woodstock and the Foxy Red Hatters of Worcester County. In Florida she served as President of the Board of her condominium association.
Calling hours are 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Friday July 2, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 3, at 11:00AM at the Central Baptist Church, Main St., Southbridge.
