STURBRIDGE: Nancy Anderson Guy died peacefully on Friday, September 30 at the age
of 81, while living at home with her caring family. She leaves her nieces Deborah Harris
and Martha Tole, her nephews Raymond and Peter Burnham, five great-nieces and
-nephews, and two great-great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Paul and
Harriet Anderson, her older brother, Paul, her older sister, Jean Burnham , and her husband,
Ernest .
Nancy leaves a legacy of decency, caring, and service unimagined by most who did not
know her. Widowed within months of her marriage by the tragic death of Ernest M. Guy, a
US Marine pilot who died in service to our country, she dedicated her life to caring for the
newborns of the Tri-community. Except for those few months of marriage, from the time
of her graduation from Boston Children' s Hospital in September 1948 until her retirement
many decades later, she served as the lead RN at Harrington Hospital' s maternity ward. If
you are reading this, she may have cradled you in her arms.
Aunt Nan loved traveling, most especially to Bermuda, with her many friends. She traveled
every year up to 2004.
Nancy will be buried next to her father Paul, her mother Harriet, and her husband Ernest.
A memorial service will be held AT ONE P.M Saturday, Oct, 15, in the
BELANGER-BULLARD FUNERAL HOME 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge.
In lieu of flowers, please do something today and every day to love, protect, and provide
for the children of our Tri-community. An online guest book is available at
