Mary Sullivan

BRIMFIED: Mary C. (Saccucci) Sullivan 89, of Paige Hill Road died Thursday September 20thin her home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 67 years Roger Sullivan, a son Richard Sullivan of Hardwick, four daughters Kathleen Kenyon of Brimfield; Christine Sullivan of Grafton; Maureen Sullivan of Sterling and Donna McDonald of Westborough and 11 grandchildren across the country.
She was born in Wheelwright, the daughter of Joseph and Lena (Cestarelli) Saccucci. She graduated from Hardwick High School. At the age of 16 she won the WORC radio talent contest with her remarkable voice, and was given the keys to the city of Worcester. She sang in many places throughout the area and was know as the “Hardwick Songbird.” She was a special education teacher at Wales Elementary School and later became a floral designer at Sturbridge Florist.
She was an active member of St. Christopher’s Church and sang in its choir, worked on the barbecue picnic committee, and was past President of the Catholic Women’s Club for 22 years.
Her funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM Monday September 24 in St. Christopher’s Church, Route 20 Brimfield. Burial will follow in Brimfield Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Sunday, Sept. 23, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge, MA.
