Charlton: Mary E. " Betty" (Simonds) Picard, 84 of Charlton.
Betty moved forward in her journey to rejoin Al, her loving husband of 52 years Monday, March 27, 2006. At this point in her journey she was sent with a loving farewell surrounded by her family and friends. She leaves behind two sons, Paul Picard and wife Karon, of Marietta, Georgia, Gary Picard and wife Renelle of Spencer and a stepdaughter, Carol Thorn of Merritt Island, FL. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren who are scattered around the country that will miss her dearly.
Born in 1922, daughter of Fred G. and Kathryn Simonds she lived most of her life in Auburn, MA, graduating from Auburn High in 1940. In 1962 Al and Betty started their business, " Picard' s Camping Center" which they sold after 20 years of operation. They moved to their dream retirement house in Charlton. Her husband, Alvin of 52 years, pre-deceased her in 1996. Her favorite things were choir music, camping, independent living, " The Lunch Bunch" , " Foxy Red Hatters" and " Dad & Mom' s" house on the lake. Betty lived a full life to the end.
Calling hours will be Friday, March 31, 6:00 PM -8:00PM, at Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St, Southbridge. Her funeral will be at 10:00 AM April 1st, at Elm St. Congregational Church, at the corner of Elm and Park, Southbridge. Burial will follow at West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton.
