UXBRIDGE: Mary A. (Anas) Hayes, 96, formerly of Mendon St. died Monday, March 17, 2014, in Overlook Masonic Health Center after an illness.
Her husband of 69 years Arthur F. Hayes died in 2005.
She leaves her son Manny Hayes of Uxbridge, her daughter Alexia (Barron) Shea and her husband Michael Shea of East Brookfield, six grandchildren Barry Hayes, Jessica Keesan, Timothy Hayes, Andrew Barron, Nicholas Barron, Daniel Barron, 3 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her daughter Chrystine Hayes in 1993, her sister Aspasia Regas, Manny Anas and Chrysse Shishko.
She was born in Putnam, CT daughter of George and Efprixia (Black) Anas and lived in Uxbridge many years before moving to Charlton.
She graduated from Putnam High School in 1936 and worked at the family owned Crown Lunch in Putnam.
Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, keeping her home and loved her family.
She wasn't in movies or the tabloids or a millionaire just a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife. Mary showed what it meant to be unselfish and to take care of those around her.
The family appreciates and extends a heartfelt thank you for the loving and compassionate care that Overlook Masonic Health Center gave to Mary over the years.
At her request, her funeral service will be private in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. Burial will follow at Grove St. Cemetery, Putnam Ct.
There are no calling hours.
