STURBRIDGE: Marilyn (Brookes) McRoy , 77 of Sturbridge died Tuesday, March 11th at Harrington Memorial Hospital , Southbridge after an illness.
She leaves a son Brian L. McRoy, his wife Wendy and her beloved grandchildren, Travis, Kayla, and Gage with whom she lived.
She is survived by two brothers; Duane W. Brookes of Westbrook Ct. and Verne R. Brookes of Haddam Ct., two sisters; Beverly Morse of Sturbridge and Mary Alice Matulevich of Haddam Ct. and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was predeceased in 2002 by her loving husband of 45 years, Charlie L. McRoy, a brother, Lyle H. Brookes of Haddam Ct.1998 and two sisters; Norma Randall of Millersville Md.1998, and Barbara Hooker of Holland Ma. 2003.
Marilyn was a graduate of Connecticut Teachers College and taught in Deep River Ct. before moving to Sturbridge in 1956 to tutor and teach for Burgess Elementary School for 30 years. Her hobby was spoiling her grandchildren.
She was a former member of the First Congregational Church of Haddam Ct. and a current member of the Federated Church of Sturbridge and Fiskdale.
Her funeral will be held at 10:00AM Friday, March 14th in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. Calling hours are 5:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday March 13th in the funeral home.
