STURBRIDGE: Marie G. (Gates) Jones, 86, formerly of Old Farm Rd, died Friday, June 14, in Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Her husband Philip B. Jones died August 10, 2011. She leaves 2 sons Stephen G. Jones of West Brookfield, Brian B. Jones of Sturbridge, a daughter Nancy R. Ambrose of Worcester, 7 grandchildren Mathew Jones, Lauren Reardon, Nikki LeDuc, Samantha Prescott, Melissa Jones, Patricia Jones and Timothy Jones and 6 great-grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of William and Alice (Keating) Gates and lived in the Sturbridge area many years. She graduated from North High School and Simmons College. She was a tutor at Burgess Elementary School. She was a member of the Sturbridge Federated Church and its Women’s Fellowship. She helped with Meals on Wheel. Her Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, June 23, in the Sturbridge Federated Church, at the corner of Maple and RT 131 in Sturbridge. Private burial will be held in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
