HOLLAND: Marc D. Palmer, 69,passed away at home surrounded by his family on February 14,2018.
Leaves his beloved wife ‘Betsy’ Rachel (Hoy) Palmer of 46 years, three sons; Shawn Palmer of San Francisco, Ca, Todd Palmer of Nantucket, Ma and Lee and wife Leah (Locke) Palmer of Holland, Ma. He also leaves grandson, Codey and granddaughter Alexis of Holland, Ma. Three brothers Joseph Palmer and wife Gail, Ward Palmer and partner Julie Libby and Kevin Palmer all of Fiskdale, Ma., and his aunt Doris (Palmer) Durrin of Fitchburg, MA along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marc was predeceased by his mother Theresa (Meunier) Palmer in 1993 and his father John C Palmer Jr in 2013.
Marc was owner of Hemlock Ridge Golf Course in Fiskdale, Ma which has been a family owned and operated public golf course since 1970.
Marc was a member of the class of 1967 at Tantasqua Regional High School and attended UMASS Amherst Turf School. He joined the U S Navy Seabees serving in the Vietnam Conflict 1969-1970. He achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with FMF and a Bronze Star as well as an Expert Rifleman Medal (1969).
He was a gifted natural mechanic and could fix any piece of machinery, built the family home with lumber sawed from his saw mill, always using imagination and intuition. Constantly busy he had very little down time – but enjoyed traveling with his wife Betsy.
Above all his love of family was the most important thing in his life and was very proud of his children and his grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 5:30PM on Monday, February 19, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
Calling hours are Monday from 3:30 to 5:30PM Monday Feb. 19 prior to his funeral service.
Immediately following the service there will be a reception at 6:30 in the Hemlock Ridge Golf Course Clubhouse, Holland Rd. Fiskdale (Sturbridge), Ma.
