Westhampton: Mara O'Connor, 85, beloved mother, lover, friend, teacher, poet, and lady of
the lake, passed away peacefully on Monday February 26th in Holyoke, MA.
Born in Nashua, New Hampshire to Charles and Katherine (O'Connor) Adams in
1932, Mara graduated from the University of Vermont in 1954. She married
Paul O'Halloran Jr. and raised her five children in Burlington, Vermont. She
earned her degree in Psychology and had a private practice for 15 years
before retiring to her dream home on Lake Champlain. Mara was active in the
Unitarian Church, Ferry Beach Park Association, and many social groups
including the amazing Outrageous Group. Mara lived in Massachusetts with
her daughter for the last 12 years, continuing to write, sing, and volunteer
at the local hospital.
A fierce and loyal friend, she was a lover of dancing, live music, and
nature. She is survived by her children, Tom (Leslie), Kate (Rico), Dan
(Sue), John (Mayda) and Jamie (Beth), and her four grandchildren Ashton,
Shane, Nicholas and Keller.
