SOUTHBRIDGE – Lorraine St. George, 86, of Chapin St., died Sunday, August 29, in Radius Healthcare Center. She leaves her niece, Gisele Labrecque, of Woonsocket, RI, and 2 great-nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, J. Roger St. George, and by one nephew, Robert Marc St. George..
She was born in Southbridge, the daughter of the late Roch and Cicele (Cournoyer) St. George. She graduated from Southbridge High School and attended nursing school. She joined the convent and became a Grey Nun. In the 1980’s, Lorraine worked for Harrington Memorial Hospital in the orthopedics unit. She went on many nursing missions, including one to the Arctic. She had a strong interest in the history and culture of Native Americans, and while in the Arctic, she was able to practice nursing within their culture. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Fiskdale, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She also worked in St. Anne’s Shrine.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, Sept, 13th in St. Anne’s Church, Church St. in the Fiskdale section of Sturbridge. Burial will be in Old Notre Dame Cemetery, Charlton St., Southbridge. The Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
