Lorraine Langevin

April 2, 1930 — December 27, 2021

STURBRIDGE: Lorraine Langevin, 91, of Sturbridge passed away on December 27, 2021 at the Life Care Center of Auburn following a long illness.

Lorraine leaves behind her brother Alfred Langevin and his wife Debora of Warnerville, NY; her 2 nieces Deborah of Yonkers, and Michelle (John) Foley; great-nephews Aidan, Dylan, and Cameron of Northport NY; several cousins including Roger St. Cyr.

Lorraine was born in Southbridge, MA, daughter to the late Henry Langevin and Regina (St Cyr) Langevin.

Lorraine attended Sacred Heart Grammar School in Southbridge and graduated from Wells High School in 1948. She worked at American Optical as Executive Secretary to the Vice President while she put herself through college. She attended Clark University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in general studies. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education at Worcester State College.

Lorraine taught 5th grade English and Science at Wells Jr. High School from 1969-1971. She went on to teach at Pine Street School and Southbridge public schools until she retired in 1988. When she retired, she continued to teach GED students in the Southbridge schools. Lorraine had a passion for teaching and it would show in the glowing evaluations that she would receive. Even when Lorraine was no longer teaching, children would always put a smile on her face.

Lorraine was always active and had several hobbies and interests. She played tennis, badminton and pool, and liked to go walking, hiking, swimming, skiing, kayaking and fossil hunting. She also loved to travel and learn wherever she went. She took many trips with her life-long friend Polly Chamberlin and traveled to France and Russia with her brother and family. She was a lover of the arts, and music. She had a strong passion for painting, and created many beautiful art pieces of her own. She loved her home on Cedar Lake, where she resided for over 50 years.

Lorraine loved her friends and family dearly and enjoyed the times that she spent with them. Lorraine will be missed by all the people that have had the pleasure to know her.
