Loretta Summers

PITTSFIELD/STURBRIDGE: Loretta (Costello) Summers 88, formerly of Sturbridge and Westborough, passed away on February 28,2021 at Pittsfield Hospital. Loretta leaves behind her 3 sons Charles R. Summers JR. of Carmel, IN, James J. Summers of Pittsfield MA, Michael T. Summers of Springboro, OH; Her daughter Kimberly Robideau and her husband Ronald of Webster; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great Grandchild Loretta was born in Milford, MA and was predeceased by her father John J. Costello and mother Delvina (Carbonneau) Costello. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years Charles R. Summers on February 7, 2017.   Loretta was a graduate of St. Mary’s Highschool in Milford, MA. She attended Milford Hospital School of Nursing in 1954 where she completed her degree in nursing. She worked as a surgical, psychiatric, and geriatric nurse for many years. She retired from nursing in 1984. Loretta was an active member of St. Anne’s, St. Luke’s and St. Patrick Church, and most recently St. Joseph’s church. She and her husband Charles traveled the country in their motor home and made several trips abroad. She loved being with her family. She had a passion for gardening, art, and music. Loretta’s Funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 5, at 9:30AM, in St. Joseph’s Church, 414 North St. Pittsfield, MA.
