SOUTHBRIDGE: Lois M. Greene, 89, formerly of Cedar St, died Thursday, June 26, at Southbridge Rehab and Nursing.
She leaves her nieces Lisbeth Champney and her husband Dennis of Southbridge; Meg Greene of Milford, CT; nephews David Greene of Danielson, CT; Rand Greene of Sturbridge, grand nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Nancy Greene of Southbridge.
Lois was predeceased by her sister Margaret Greene and her brother Benjamin Allen Greene Jr.
She was born in Southbridge, the daughter of Benjamin A. and Margaret (Rand) Greene and lived in the area all her life. She graduated from the former Mary E. Wells High School.
Lois was an executive secretary at Old Sturbridge Village, retiring in 1992. Prior to that time, she had worked at the American Optical Company. She also worked for Weight Watchers.
She volunteered for Harrington Hospital Auxiliary, knitting many hats and blankets for the new born babies.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM, on Saturday, July 12, in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Her Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM following the graveside service, in the Sturbridge Federated Church, at the corner of Maple St. and RT. 131 in Sturbridge.
