Lois J. Bizak, 79, of Sturbridge, MA, Died November 18, 2018 doing what she loved, globetrotting with
her sister Sherry. She survived 3 years after pancreatic cancer surgery and lived those years to the
fullest.
Lois grew up in Wickliffe OH, and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1961. Upon
graduation she moved to Hartford, CT to work for Travelers Insurance as the first female actuarial
trainee and advanced quickly to the new field of computers. She held management positions at
Travelers Insurance, Paul Revere and several companies in Boston. She obtained her MS in Computer
Science in 1981.
During her retirement, Lois combined her love of travel, photography, Frank Lloyd Wright, and
modern architecture to visit 80 countries and 49 states.
In addition to her beloved sister Sherry Simonic, of Brimfield, MA, she leaves her Brother-in-law,
Bill Simonic, nephew Gregory Simonic of Columbia Station, OH, lifelong friend Jeanne Weitman of
Sanford, NC, frequent traveling buddy and roommate, Karen Bergenthal of Gloucester, MA and a
cherished host of Art and Architecture traveling friends. Also, her beloved uncle, Mike Kerpan of
Gurnee, IL, and several cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Atlas Foundation and Pancreatic Cancer Research
No services are scheduled at this time. A memorial gathering will be planned in the future to
celebrate Lois’s life.
