CHARLTON: Lisa (Fanning) Cummings, 54, of G. French Rd, died Wednesday, May 23rd after a long illness. She leaves her husband, of 30 years, Mark Cummings, 2 daughters: Bridget and her husband Stephen Groh of Charlton and Tara Cummings of Charlton, 2 sisters Gail Fanning of Charlton and Jill Arsenault of Charlton, 4 grandchildren Liam, Gavin, Finnian & Jameson.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of the late William and Mary (Brosnahan) Fanning and lived in the area many years.
Lisa graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1976 and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1980. She earned her Masters at Worcester State. She was a Registered Nurse and a Certified Health Education Specialist.
She worked at UMASS in the Emergency Room Trauma for many years. She also worked at Memorial Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital.
She was selected by the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses as the Outstanding Nurse of the year. The award was presented to her at a ceremony held in Boston.
She was a member of St. Joseph\'s parish, the Greater Auburn Community Choir and the Hibernia Club.
Lisa enjoyed helping others in health matters and would volunteer at the senior Center in Charlton and St. Joseph religious education camps.
Her funeral will be held at 11:30AM, on Tuesday May 29, at St. Joseph Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext. Charlton. A calling hour will be held at 10:00AM to 11:30AM in the church prior to the Mass.
