Leatrice "Lee" Butterworth, 80, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Friday, January 26, 2024. Her husband of thirty-seven years, Richard "Dick" Butterworth passed away in 2005. She is survived by her loving daughters: Karen L. Butterworth and her friend Christopher A. Earnest of Sturbridge and Joyce A. Butterworth and her husband Joshua Forand of Westfield; her grandson Alex Fontanilles of Westfield; her brothers John, Richard, Donald and Francis, and sister Ann, along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, and her cats: Ziggy and Nutmeg. She is predeceased by her brothers Edmund, Raymond and Roy, and sisters Jane and Helen.
Leatrice was born and raised in Springfield, one of 11 children to the late John and Helen Krajewski Seidell. She graduated from Commerce High School in Springfield before she met and married Richard. She moved to Sturbridge to raise their family and Leatrice worked for several retail locations throughout the years, including the Van Heusen Outlet, Uncle Warren's Country Store and most recently Shaw's Supermarket until her retirement. She was a past Assistant Director of Civil Defense for the Town of Sturbridge. She was also a past member of the Order of Eastern Star. She loved to read mystery novels - her favorite being Sherlock Holmes, play Bingo, travel throughout New England with her family, spend time with her grandson and loving all her cats. Everyone who knew and loved Leatrice will miss her dearly.
