STURBRIDGE – Laura L. (Burlingame) Fitts, 66, of Cedar St., died Thursday, February 26, in her home, after a long illness. She leaves her husband of 47 years, Irving C. Fitts; one son, Gary Fitts, of Warren, MA; five daughters, Bonnie Maska, of Warren, Sharon Chambers, of Warren, Paula Fitts, of Sturbridge, Colleen Martel, of Brimfield, and Tammy Buckner, of Sturbridge; one brother, Jeffrey Burlingame, of Charlton; six sisters, Betty McCrillis, of Woodstock, Ct, Kathy Baron, of Southbridge, Leona Wilkseman, of Charlton, Linda Wassell, of Oxford, Patsy Cloutier, of Charlton, and Sally Kriss, of Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fitts was born on August 29, 1942, in Southbridge, the daughter of the late Aaron C. and Gladys (Manthorne) Burlingame, and lived in the area her entire life. She worked for the American Optical company for 17 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Charlton Congregational Church. She enjoyed arts and craft shows as well as making them herself.She loved flowers and gardening.She especially loved spending time with her family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00a.m., Tuesday, March 3, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge. Calling hours will be held from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., Monday, March 2, in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Northside Cemetery, Charlton.
