Charlton: Katherine E. (Mitchell) King, affectionately known as Kay, entered this world on September 3, 1927, and departed from it on February 4, 2025, at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge surrounded by loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy woven together with love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Louis E. King Jr.
Katherine was born in Auburn, MA daughter to the late Archibald and Alama (Konkel) Mitchell.
Katherine is survived by her son Rodney King and wife Diana of Charlton; her daughter Shelia Daniels and her husband Fred of Charlton; her brother Dwight Mitchell; her 3 sisters Ruth Defoe, Claudia Blauvelt, Ella Polinski; Grandchildren Fred Daniels and his wife Dominique of NY, Louis Daniels and Wife Joan of Oxford, Mark Daniels and Wife Wendy of Dudley, Trudy Daniels of Oxford, Melanie Woodcock and husband John of Charlton, Melissa Chapman and husband Joe of Southbridge; Great grandchildren Tatyanna Sheldon, Alex Figueroa, Kristen Daniels, Joshua Daniels, Shay Daniels, Joslynn Daniels, Louis Daniels Jr., Maddi ide-Daniels, Jordan Daniels, Dominique Bloomingdale, Thomas Chapman, Mathew Chapman, Angela Chapman, Chelsea Woodcock, Samantha Woodcock; nephews and nieces Cayla Faubert, Danny Faubert and his wife Angela, Lisa Faubert; several more nephews and nieces and many great great grandchildren that she loved dearly.
Katherine was predeceased by her 2 brothers John Mitchell and Karl Mitchell, and her 3 sisters Anabelle King, Rosie Burdett, Marleen Butter.
For over 40 years, Kay dedicated herself to her career at Weymouth Rug Company, where her hard work and determination were a testament to her character.
She was renowned for her warm and caring nature. Her sense of humor brought joy to many, and her kindness was felt deeply by those who crossed her path. The heart of her life revolved around her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to her devotion to family, she delighted in her hobbies. Skilled at crochet, Kay crafted beautiful pieces that were infused with her love. Her dedication extended beyond her home; she proudly volunteered at the American Legion, further illustrating her commitment to serving her community.
Though she has left this earthly realm, Katherine E. King’s spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion is a profound reminder of the beauty of a life lived well.
Katherine's life will be celebrated in a graveside service at West Ridge Cemetery, Main St. Charlton, MA (behind the library) on Monday, April 21, at 11:00AM.
