Southbridge: Joyce Emma Thompson, 91, formerly of Woodland Ave. died Sunday, Oct.
2nd, in Radius Healthcare of Southbridge. She leaves two brothers Chester Thompson and
Howard Thompson both of Southbridge, Warren Thompson of Phoenix, Az., two sisters
Winifred Lucey of Phoenix, Az. and Gladys Curtis of Oxford, and several nephews, nieces
and grand nieces and nephews.
She was born in Southbridge the daughter of Ralph and Grace (Barlow) Thompson and
lived in Southbridge all her life. Miss Thompson graduated from Mary E. Wells High
School. She worked in the accounting department at Hyde' s Manufacturing Co., and retired
in 1977 after thirty nine years of service.
She was a member of the Central Baptist Church and once served as the treasurer. She was
also a member of the Southbridge Grange, and the Philalthea Society. She enjoyed playing
the piano and playing cards with her friends.
Her funeral will be held at ELEVEN AM, Thursday, October 6th, in the
BELANGER-BULLARD FUNERAL HOME 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. Burial will
follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from TEN to ELEVEN AM
prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church
