UXBRIDGE: Joseph Stefanik 81, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 27th. Joe was a finish carpenter who loved his trade, and built and renovated many homes in the area. He was an avid trapper, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He was an active member of Cove\'s Fishing Club in Uxbridge. Recently, he enjoyed the beach and shell fishing with his family on Cape Cod.
Joe was born in Millville, son of the late John and Justina (Zofa) Stefanik, and lived most of his life in Uxbridge. He was a member of St. Mary\'s parish for many years. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a former member of the Uxbridge Fire Dept where he served for several years. He also volunteered his time for the Town of Uxbridge.
Joseph is predeceased by his brother John Stefanik, his sister Anna Misiaszek, his brother Michael Stefanik, and his niece Marsha Misiaszek. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Stefanik of Dennis, Ma, his niece Nancy Pelland of Marstons Mills, his nephew James Stefanik of Chicago, and his nephew and Godson Michael Stefanik of Malborough and another Godchild, Patricia Mulligan formerly from Uxbridge. He is also survived by four great neices, Debra Chamberlain of Hubbardston, Robyn Pelland of Centerville, Karyn Lukas of Yarmouth, Tamsyn Stefanik of Pittsfield, and five great great neices and nephews.
His funeral will be held at Noon, Wednesday, Jan. 30th in St.
Maryâ??s Church Mendon St. Uxbridge. Burial will follow at St Maryâ??s Cemetery. Calling hours are 9:00AM to 11:30AM Wednesday, Jan 30th in the Buma Funeral Home 101 North Main St Uxbridge.
