SOUTHBRIDGE: Jose A. Portalatin, 56, of Randolph St, died Saturday, Oct. 4, at in his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 15 years Dianna (Pujols) Portalatin, a son Anthony Portalatin of, Long Island, NY, a daughter Lisa D. Portalatin at home, his mother Justina (Medina) Portalatin of Southbridge, three brothers Carlos Portalatin of SC; Manuel Portalatin of No. Brookfield; Ricardo Portalatin of Milo, Maine; three sisters Jovita Portalatin of Worcester , Antonia Portalatin of Worcester, Maritza Portalatin of Worcester, 3 grandchildren Anthony, Sanjay, Joel.
He was predeceased by a son Ernesto Portalatin and a sister Evelyn Portalatin. He also leaves his pet dogs Cindy and Dianno.
He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico the son of the late Jose Portalatin. Jose graduated from the Brooklyn, NY, High School System.
He served the US Army and National Guard in 1975 until 2005. Jose was a guard at the MCI in Concord for 14 years, earning the rank of Sergeant.
He enjoyed jazz music, fishing, small animals and collecting unique knives.
His funeral Mass will be held at 1:00PM (Please go directly to Church) Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Notre Dame
Church of the St. John Paul II Parishes, 446 Main St. Southbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5:00 to 8:00PM, on Monday, Oct. 6, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge.
