STURBRIDGE: John H. Lynch, 95, of Cedar St. died Thursday, April 19, at Harrington Hospital after a short illness. His wife Helen (Clark) Lynch died in 1984. He leaves 2 daughters Charlene Richard of Southbridge, Peg Cote and her husband Leo Cote Jr. of Charlton, 4 grandchildren John and his wife Karen Cote, Daniel and his wife Christine Cote, David and his wife Lisa Richard and Stephanie Lynch, 6 great grandchildren Tiya, Patrick, Samantha, Cody, Joshua, Randal, and a great great granddaughter Sophia. He was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Lynch, son-in-law Emile Richard, brothers, Walter, Timothy and Thomas, sister, Beatrice Lynch, Margaret Tremblay, Edith Tavernier. John was born in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late Christopher and Belle (Shepherd) Lynch, was raised in Eagle Butte, SD, and lived many years in the Southbridge, Sturbridge area. He was a tank driver during the WWII and served in Europe and received a Purple Heart Medal. He retired from the Southbridge School System after 20 years of service. At one time he worked for the American Optical and United Lens. He was a Detroit Tigers fan. He was proud to say he met Mark Fidrich “the Bird” of the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed trips to the casinos, playing scratch tickets. He will be remembered for his sense of humor. The love of his life was his children and grandchildren. Calling hours are 9:30AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 24, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. A graveside service will follow at 11:00AM in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Charlton St. Southbridge.
