Jean Dexter

MANCHESTER: Jean (Lennox) Dexter, 92, of Manchester, CT, formerly of Sturbridge, MA, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 following a long illness. 

Jean was born on April 14, 1923 in Pittsfield, MA the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Mason) Lennox. 

Jean is survived by her three children and their spouses:  Elizabeth and Jeffrey Bartkovich of Pittsford, NY; Barbara and Ted Faticoni of Norwalk, CT; and David and Pam Dexter of Stafford Springs, CT; 9 grandchildren: Lori, Mike, Chris, Mark, Lisa, Wendy, Mike, Jon and Jeff; 7 great-grandchildren: Madeline, Marguerite, Mikey Jr. Alex, AJ, Camden and Zack; and several nieces and nephews. 

Jean’s husband of forty-eight years, David Dexter, died in 2000.  She is also predeceased by her sister, Katherine Hurt and her brother, George Lennox. 

Jean attended Pittsfield schools, was a member of the Rainbow Girls, volunteered as an airplane spotter and nurse’s aide during World War II, worked at General Electric in Pittsfield as a draftswoman, was a member of PEO and was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Norwalk, CT and in later years at Holy Trinity Church of Southbridge, MA.

For the past five-six months, Jean was in the care of her grandson Christopher and Stephanie at their home in Manchester. 

Calling hours will be held Friday, February 12th from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 10:00 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hamilton Street, Southbridge, MA.  

The family invites anyone who wishes to 

wear something purple, as it was her favorite color. 

Burial will be held in the Spring in Walnut Grove Cemetery, North Brookfield, MA.
