Irene Waisanen

WORCESTER: Irene (Barnes) Waisanen, 83, passed away on October 14, 2021, at the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center of Worcester. She leaves behind her daughter Alice (Okerson) Alicea and her husband Jose C. Alicia- Ayala; her son Ronald Okerson II; her grandchildren Maria Alicea, Rebecca Rhodes, Jose C. Alicea II, Johnathan Cook and Brandon Cook; her greatgrandchildren Carlos Vargas Alicea, Logan Rhodes, Devan Rhodes, Jaxson Alicea, Sutton Alicea, and Madison Cook. Irene was born in Springfield to the late Albert and Alice (Buxton) Barnes. Irene was predeceased by her son Robert Okerson, and her daughter Cheryl (Okerson) Cook. Irene worked as an LPN in a hospital for several years, and loved her job. She enjoyed having her morning cup of coffee and crossword puzzles.
