Hubert Matte

SOUTHBRIDGE: Hubert A. Matte, 86, formerly of Southbridge, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, in Webster Manor after an illness. His wife Ellen E. (Owen) died in 1991. He leaves a son William O. Matte of Southbridge; two daughters Marjorie E. Rockwood of Sturbridge and Donna G. Vongthiraj of Woonsocket, RI; five grandchildren, Michael Matte, Brian Rockwood, Thomas Murphy, Marjorie Insixiengmay and Jennifer Souvanavethi. He also left five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was born in Biddeford, Maine and lived in Southbridge for many years. He was a WWII Army veteran. He retired from the Southbridge Water Co. in 1981 after twenty five years of service. After his retirement he worked for the Town of Southbridge as a school crossing guard until 1993. Calling hours are SIX to SEVEN THIRTY PM Friday, Dec. 30, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at SEVEN THIRTY PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
