rbridge: Gladys E. (Dahn) Mellen, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May, 10th at Harrington Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Her husband of 49 years, Howard Mellen, died in 1979. She leaves 4 daughters, Pauline Rizner and her husband Albert of Dudley, Shirley Chakuas and her husband Steve, Virginia Cote and her husband Donald all of Southbridge, Linda McDonald and her husband Roger of Sturbridge with whom she made her home and a daughter in law Dorothea Mellen of Dudley, 20 grandchildren Susan, Nancy, Howie, Ann, Cindy, Bill, Randy, Mark, Debbie, Lisa, Linda, Danny, Robert, Donna, Sue, Laurie, Kevin, Amy, Shannon, and Adam many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 loving sons Howard W. Mellen and Richard E. Mellen and a beloved grandson Chuck Soper.
She was born in Southbridge the daughter of William and Pauline (Jaskoviak) Dahn and lived in Dudley many years before moving to Sturbridge. She retired from the former Colonial Greeting Card Co. in Webster.
She enjoyed reading, music and the Yankees.
Her greatest joy was her family and we are comforted knowing she is at peace with
her Lord and Savior.
Her funeral will be held at 10AM, Tuesday, May 15th in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
