Germaine I. Goddu passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at the age of 94. Her husband, Norman Goddu, predeceased her in 1957. She is survived by a son, Dennis N. Goddu of Barre; a daughter, Sharon I. Goddu of Worcester; 2 nephews, John Bombardier and his wife Natalie of Buckeye, AZ and Kenneth Guertin of Southbridge and 2 nieces; Joyce Wood of Phoenix, AZ and Sue Bombardier-Cox of Colorado Springs, CO. A son, Clyde N. Goddu; a brother, Charles Bombardier and 2 sisters; Gertrude Proulx and Jean Guertin all predeceased her.
Germaine was born in a house on Faraquhar Road in Sturbridge, the daughter of John and Marie L. (St. Martin) Bombardier, where she grew up and graduated Wells High School in 1939, where she was the class artist. She then attended Boston Cooking School, Becker Junior College and The Ollis Hairdressing Academy. Her job history includes: American Optical, Edwards Department Store, Southbridge Evening News, Ann Dunbar Dress Shop in Palmer, A Real Estate Agency, a Hairdresser, an artist for a screen printing company but mostly as a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and became an excellent seamstress making her own clothing including a beautiful suit.
Calling hours are Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 4-8 PM in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. Anne's Church, 16 Church Street, Fiskdale,MA. Burial to follow in St. Anne's Cemetery. Memorial donations in Germaine's memory may be made to St. Anne's Church.
