Frederick Belanger
January 29, 1926 — May 8, 2011
STURBRIDGE/UXBRIDGE Frederick E. Belanger 85, formerly of Oak Ave, Sturbridge died Sunday evening in Overlook Masonic Healthcare in Charlton. His wife of 54 years Anita T. (Leclaire) Belanger died in 2004. He leaves 3 sons Michael E. Belanger and his wife Ann of Uxbridge; William P. Belanger and his wife Dee of Southbridge; Timothy F. Belanger and his wife Ilissa of Fairfax, VA; a brother Ovila “Amza” Belanger and his wife Jeannette of Uxbridge; a sister Lillian F. Pelland of Uxbridge; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Lawrence Belanger.
He was born in Linwood the son of Philip and Eva (Anger) Belanger and lived in Uxbridge before moving to Sturbridge 17 years ago.
Fred retired from Timex in 1988 after 28 years of service. After retirement he worked for Pine Grove Cemetery in Whitinsville. Fred and Anita enjoyed winters in Florida and spending time with the grandchildren.
He belonged to several candle pin bowling leagues, was musically inclined and enjoyed playing the harmonica, bugle and the accordion. He enjoyed boxing and tinkering in his woodshop.
He was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Sturbridge and a former member of Good Shepherd Church in Linwood.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 13th, at 10:00AM in Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood St. Linwood. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Uxbridge.
Calling hours are Wednesday, May 11th, 6:00PM to 8:00PM in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge and Thursday May 12th, 6:00PM to 8:00PM in the Buma Funeral Home 101 North Main St. Uxbridge.
